EnhanceTV 2008 highlightsEnhanceTV, the website developed by Screenrights to help teachers use television in the classroom, has gone from strength to strength during 2008, further cementing its place as an important link between the world of film and the education sector. The site (www.enhancetv.com.au) was visited up to 30,000 times a month by people looking for programs, study guides and ideas on how to incorporate a whole range of film genre into their teaching. Many found what they were looking for, which was reflected in the total number of products ordered - around 50% higher than last year. There are now over 16,000 EnhanceTV members and they are joining at a higher rate per month than last year. Free Study Guides continue to be the most popular items ordered in the store, which also shows their importance to teachers. Over 15,000 were downloaded, a 31% increase over last year. Joining the list of most downloaded Guides were First Australians and Look Both Ways. The Castle, Rabbit Proof Fence, and An Inconvenient Truth remained on this list for yet another year. EnhanceTV now emails its weekly newsletter of upcoming educational programs to over 12,000 subscribers. In a recent member survey, respondents said they circulate their copy of the newsletter to 6.6 colleagues on average. This result is an increase from 3.8 people in 2006 – meaning that the newsletter reaches more educators than ever before. The EnhanceTV team will continue to develop the site during 2009, ensuring that it remains a popular and relevant means of informing educators about what’s on television and how to use it. |
