Occasionally more than one person or company makes a claim to the same royalties. When this happens Screenrights holds the royalties in trust until the conflict is resolved.
In most cases the conflict is resolved easily by both parties to the conflict reviewing their contracts. If you are notified by Screenrights that you have royalties in conflict, we recommend that you follow the steps below:
Step 1:
Do I control the rights? Check your contracts. If unclear, seek legal advice.
Step 2:
Decide whether you are maintaining or withdrawing your claim.
Step 3:
If you are maintaining your claim, contact the other party and seek to resolve the conflict. If you are withdrawing your claim, contact Screenrights.

What happens if the conflict cannot be resolved easily?
Where the parties cannot resolve a conflict they can elect to participate in mediation or expert adjudication under our Alternative Dispute Resolution policy. In such circumstances the claimants must pay some costs.
