Role Summary

At Screenrights, everything we do supports learning and creativity.

Engineering innovation is the fuel that powers Screenrights. Your mission is to be the Leader who takes our high performing team to new heights, building a world-class engineering team to transform our tech stacks, while executing with quality, pace and an eye to the future.

As we are undergoing a tech transformation (including retiring some legacy systems) while building new products to scale globally, you’ll have a strong bias for innovation, value creation and adapting to change in a very fast-paced environment.

You’ll be the voice of technology for the leadership team, taking senior stakeholders and the Board on a journey to understand the tech vision and execution plan. You’ll be engaging in strategic planning for the organisation, participating in the management team guiding the direction for the business, and bringing tech insights into the strategy and direction of where we are headed in the future.

  • Evangelise the technical vision, strategy and technical roadmap with key stakeholders and the Board
  • Plan and execute on the tech & data roadmaps and product roadmap (in conjunction with the Head of Product)
  • Be intimately familiar with our product, languages, and our tech stack (AWS, distributed systems, and services) to drive decisions about frameworks, architecture and long-term decisions
  • Drive the maturity, scalability, reliability of our platform and people as we grow
  • Implement a sound cybersecurity approach and build security capability
  • Deliver the customer value and the product roadmap with engineering excellence and pace
  • Guide the team to building innovative, elegant solutions with a bias towards value creation by balancing trade-offs with the best interests of the company
  • Guide the team on important architectural and long-term engineering decisions, as well as shorter-term tradeoffs, staying technical to provide meaningful guidance on engineering decisions
  • Maintain a connection with & provide progress reporting to key customers, stakeholders and the Board, particularly as our non-profit moves to serve global players
  • Be a strong People Leader, guiding your team from a place of respect and care
  • Be a trusted partner to design, engineering, product, and leadership teams
  • Mentor, develop, and guide your engineering leads and engineers so they can do their best work
  • Coach & lead onshore and offshore developers – while our team is small (~15) we are mighty and growing
  • Own the Engineering Team Engagement score (quarterly measure of team engagement), by building upon our interactive, learning-oriented engineering community
