Package to Pitch

Project Name: Package to Pitch

Funding Recipient: Cinespace

Activity: An online educational program that gives culturally diverse creatives the tools to be able to access industry, developing knowledge and skills in a phase of production known as ‘packaging’, and a greater understanding of how our industry needs to view projects. The capacity and skills building program will build diverse creatives’ capacity and lead to greater representation on Australian screens.

Outcome: After a one-month call for entries, 15 participants were selected from 50+ applicants. The program was universally lauded by participants and speakers for having connected a number of isolated creatives to industry and to each other. The cohort continue to be in touch via a closed online discussion forum. As a direct consequence of their involvement in the program, two participants received employment in a writer’s room for an upcoming show on one of the big US streaming services. A new creative partnership has also started between two participants who met during the program. “It has been a truly great experience for everyone involved and hugely beneficial to our participants.” – John Kassab
